Hi, I’m Michael Hornbek. My YouTube journey began in 2021 when I decided to challenge myself to learn the skills to build a YouTube channel. Back then, I started making videos about my miniature hobby, teaching other people the skills and know-how to get better results and have more fun with their own hobby.
After just seven videos, the channel reached its first major milestone of 1,000 subscribers (for context, the average channel takes more than fifty videos to reach that point). Five videos later, it passed 10,000.
People started reaching out to me for advice on how they could grow their own channels, and I discovered how much I love sharing what I’ve learned about YouTube.
Over the following years, I’ve had the great experience of working for a handful of really lovely YouTubers, learning how they’ve created successful businesses around their YouTube channels, and how they approach content creation.
It wasn’t a straight path. I definitely haven’t figured everything out, and I’ve for sure had more failures than successes.
Even so, starting a YouTube channel has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
It’s been one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. It’s pushed me to learn new skills, changed the direction of my career, and introduced me to a lot of great people.
My goal with this website is to share what I’ve learned so you don’t have to struggle through the same problems I did.
